The short term rental average rates per night in Calgary during 2021 were $83 for a Private Room. That works out at an average of $581 per week and $2,324 per month for just 1 room in a house, and a whole property is much more valuable. Meaning that you will be able to make more money from short term rentals over Long term rentals.

However, whilst people are happy to pay a premium for vacation rentals, their expectations are higher too and you will need to provide the rental property fully furnished meaning the set up costs will be increased and is one of the reasons you can charge more.
